BASKETEERS launch Guelph’s 2011 annual drive

The BASKETEERS are now gearing up for their Guelph annual drive assisting women in new beginnings. This is the Basketeers 12th year and the 2nd year for Guelph. In 2010, 1,602 beautifully wrapped baskets were distributed to 39 women’s shelters.

Starting with a laundry basket (generously donated by Rubbermaid Canada) one selects either a kitchen or a bed/bathroom focus and fills it with things a woman starting a new life will need. Adding luxury items, such as chocolates, scented soaps, cream, bath oils, etc. and gift cards from grocery or department stores makes it extra special. The cost to fill a basket depends on you and your shopping skills. The average is $150.00 – $200.00 so finding others to join in splits the cost and doubles the fun.

To adopt a basket, simply register on their website and a laundry basket will be dropped off at your home or office. Drop off is Saturday, November 19th, 2011 at Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis, 38 Elizabeth St, Guelph between 9am- 2pm.
