The Ontario Association of Interval & Transition H The Ontario Association of Interval & Transition Houses' annual femicide list is out, and femicide rates have risen sharply over the past year. 62 women have been killed in Ontario over the past 12 months, up from 52 women the year before.

72 Ontario municipalities have now declared intima 72 Ontario municipalities have now declared intimate partner violence an epidemic in this province. Next week, thanks to the tireless efforts of Councillor Dominique O'Rourke @orourke_ward6 Guelph could add its voice to the ranks.
Declaring intimate partner violence a provincial epidemic is the #1 recommendation of the Renfrew County Coroner's Jury Inquest into the femicides of Carol Culleton, Anastasia Kuzyk and Nathalie Warmerdam.
Thus far, the province has refused, but with rates of femicide climbing higher in this country, municipalities have been leading the charge to address gender-based violence and support survivors.
You can come out and show your support for this motion. Wear purple to the Council meeting for solidarity and help us change the world for the better!
Check out yesterday's article on the motion by @guelphtoday's Richard Vivian to learn more about the motion.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day to Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day to commemorate all trans, two-spirit and gender-diverse people who have lost their lives to violence.

For allies, this is an important day to step up and be present for our trans friends, family and community.
If you need support or someone to talk to on this day of mourning, there is help. You can reach out to our Crisis Line at 519-836-5710 or 1-800-265-7233.

It was all smiles when Rhianna Cote, the founder o It was all smiles when Rhianna Cote, the founder of Women in Craft, dropped by with $500 in proceeds from their October 22nd market.
Over 20 women artisans came together to make the market a fantastic shopping experience at Royal City Brewing. The makers generously donated wares to be bundled into special packages for sale. Half of the price of the incredible ‘Empowered Women Empower Women’ t-shirts, seen here, were donated. The proceeds of a special candle by Rhianna’s company, Vivien Graham Waxworks, came to us too. There was also a donation jar. A wonderful gift from a truly wonderful day!
Congratulations to Rhianna and the other makers on a great event and for making this donation. Mark your calendars, folks, there is another market on December 10th. Give them a follow @women.in.craft.
