March 8th is International Women’s Day! Join us at Market Square for speakers, performers, fun activities and our annual march.
Each year on March 8th, International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Across the globe, we honour women’s accomplishments and push for women’s rights.
This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity. In Canada, we have much to celebrate, but a long way to go to achieve full equality for all women.
Our event this year features:
11:45 Snacks, hot chocolate and activity tables
12:00 Speakers
12:15 March (see route map below)
12:45 Zumba and closing remarks
All are welcome! You can wear pink or purple to show support for women if you wish, but it’s your International Women’s Day and you can wear what you want. We will have some signs and posters available for the march, as well as supplies for making your own sign on-site, or you can bring your own signs from home!
