The Sexual Assault Centre (SAC) offers individual and group counselling and support to women 16 years of age and older who have or are experiencing any form of sexual violence. We also offer support to families, partners and friends of survivors of sexual assault or woman abuse. All our services are free and interpreters can be arranged when necessary and available.
Sexual violence can include the following:
- sexual abuse
- sexual assault
- rape (date, marital, partner, stranger, gang)
- ritual abuse
- sexual harassment
- incest/childhood sexual abuse/ molestation
- stalking
- indecent/sexualized exposure,
- degrading sexual imagery
- voyeurism/exhibitionism
- dissemination of sexual photographs electronically (cyber harassment)
- rape during armed conflict
- human trafficking and sexual exploitation
Our services:
- Immediate telephone support and information through the 24-hour Crisis Line
- Risk assessment and safety planning for you and your children
- Connect you with Marianne’s Place (our emergency shelter) if you need a safe place to stay
- One-to-one trauma counselling and support
- Long term individual trauma counselling
- Group counselling
- Sexual harassment support/information
- Information on legal and medical procedures and options
- Accompaniment, advocacy and referrals to police, court, hospital, lawyers, social services and community agencies
- Help with custody and child support issues
- Referrals for two hours of free legal consultation
- Help with victim impact statements and court preparation
- Help with getting financial support
- Access to Client library and other resource materials
